Don’t Underestimate the Power of our Subconscious Mind

Don’t Underestimate
the Power of our
Subconscious Mind

During the first 6 or 7 years of a child's life, everything is downloaded into our subconscious minds. Everything we see, hear, feel and experience is stored and recorded - and will affect us throughout the whole of our life. It determines how we see the world.

Why is that important?

Consider this:-

“You’ve got to be taught to hate and fear

You’ve got to be taught from year to year

It’s got to be drummed in your dear little ear

You’ve got to be carefully taught.

You’ve got to be taught to be afraid

Of people whose eyes are oddly made

And people whose skin is a different shade

You’ve got to be carefully taught

You’ve got to be taught before it’s too late

Before you are six, or seven or eight

To hate all the people your relatives hate

You’ve got to be carefully taught.”

The unconscious mind, that vast reservoir of thoughts, feelings, memories, and instincts lying beneath the surface of our awareness, holds immense power and importance in shaping our lives and experiences. While we often focus on the conscious mind—the thoughts and perceptions we are aware of—the unconscious exerts a profound influence on our behavior, emotions, and decision-making processes.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the unconscious mind is its ability to process vast amounts of information simultaneously, far beyond the capacity of our conscious awareness. It operates like a silent guardian, tirelessly analyzing and synthesizing data from our environment, past experiences, and innermost desires. This constant processing shapes our perceptions and guides our actions, often without us even realizing it.

Consider the power of dreams, those enigmatic journeys we embark on every night while asleep. Dreams offer a window into the workings of the unconscious mind, revealing hidden fears, desires, and unresolved conflicts. While dreams may appear chaotic and nonsensical on the surface, they provide valuable insights into our innermost thoughts and emotions, helping us unravel the mysteries of our psyche.

Moreover, the unconscious mind plays a pivotal role in our emotional lives. It serves as the storehouse of our deepest fears, traumas, and insecurities, shaping the way we perceive and respond to the world around us. Unresolved emotional issues buried within the unconscious can manifest in various ways, from irrational fears and phobias to recurring patterns of self-sabotage. By delving into the depths of the unconscious, we can uncover the root causes of our emotional struggles and embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery.

Furthermore, the unconscious mind is a treasure trove of creativity and intuition. It is the wellspring from which inspiration flows, giving rise to artistic endeavors, scientific breakthroughs, and innovative solutions to complex problems. When we allow our minds to wander freely, tapping into the rich tapestry of the unconscious, we open ourselves to a world of infinite possibilities and creative potential.

In addition to its role in shaping individual experiences, the unconscious mind also holds collective significance. Carl Jung, the renowned Swiss psychiatrist, introduced the concept of the collective unconscious—a shared reservoir of universal symbols, archetypes, and mythic narratives that transcend individual experience. This collective aspect of the unconscious binds us together as a species, connecting us to our shared heritage and cultural identity.

The importance of the unconscious mind extends far beyond the realm of psychology and self-discovery. In recent years, researchers have begun to explore its role in various aspects of human behavior, from decision-making and problem-solving to interpersonal relationships and social dynamics. By gaining a deeper understanding of the unconscious processes that underlie human behavior, we can develop more effective strategies for personal growth, communication, and conflict resolution.

The unconscious mind is a profound and enigmatic force that shapes every aspect of our lives. From the depths of our dreams to the heights of our creativity, it serves as the silent orchestrator of our thoughts, emotions, and actions. By embracing the power of the unconscious and delving into its mysteries, we can unlock new levels of self-awareness, creativity, and personal transformation.

So, for those of you with young children or grandchildren, in those early years know that through your thoughts and behavior, you are creating the perceived world of these beautiful beings for the rest of their lives. Show them love and kindness - the greatest gift you can ever give.

Try it and see!

With Love & Light
